OIC secretary-general joins global leaders at IIUI Board of Trustees meeting to shape Islamic education

Establishment on 11 November 1980, the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) has stood as the epitome of Islamic education. It fosters intellectual growth and unity within the Muslim Ummah.

The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), H.E. Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, participated in the 16th Meeting of the Board of Trustees of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI). The high-profile gathering took place on Monday, 23 December 2024, at Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University.

The meeting was presided over by H.E. Prof. Dr. Ahmad Ibn Salem Al-Amri, Pro-Chancellor of IIUI and Rector of Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University, representing the President of Pakistan, H.E. Mr. Asif Ali Zardari, who serves as the Chancellor and Chairman of the IIUI Board of Trustees. Members of the Board, comprising global dignitaries and academics, attended both in-person and virtually.

CABS World News correspondent gathered that the discussion centered on advancing IIUI academic excellence, infrastructural development, and its mission to serve the Muslim Ummah.

Resolutions were passed to strengthen the university’s capacity as a hub of education and research rooted in Islamic values.

“The International Islamic University Islamabad is committed to developing scholars and professionals deeply rooted in Islamic ideology, equipped to tackle economic, social, political, technological, and intellectual challenges faced by the Muslim Ummah,” the Board affirmed in a joint statement.

The OIC Secretary-General’s participation reiterates the organization dedication to supporting educational initiatives that align with Islamic teachings and foster collaboration.

“The OIC remains steadfast in its commitment to empowering institutions like IIUI that uphold Islamic values and contribute to the intellectual and social progress of the Muslim world,” H.E. Mr. Taha stated.

The meeting solidified IIUI’s role as a center of excellence, highlighting the critical importance of education in addressing the evolving challenges of the Muslim Ummah.
