Saudi Arabia has begun the registered of Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine for import and use.

While making the announcement in a statement on Wednesday December 9, 2020, the Saudi Food and Drug Authority said that the concerned health authorities would begin importing the vaccine according to the demands of the Kingdom.

It added that it would analyze all imported shipments before their use to ensure their effectiveness.

“The Health Ministry will later announce when the vaccine is expected to arrive and when it will be available for use, reported the Saudi Press Agency,” the statement reads.

Pfizer last month said its vaccine’s two-dose regimen was 95% effective against COVID-19.

Saudi Arabia reported 159 new cases of the virus on Tuesday, taking its total to 359,274.
