COVID-19: South African opposition party distributes free hand sanitizers
The leader of the South African Economic Freedom Fighter (EFF) Party, Julius Malela, has disclosed plan to distribute free hand sanitizers to South Africans.
While disclosing this on his Twitter handle on Monday March 30th, 2020, Julius stated that “For our people we will do anything”.
“The sanitizer ingredients are comprised of 70% alcohol, making it a very strong medical-grade germ killer,” he added.
The party’s national spokesperson, Vuyani Pambo, explained that the sanitizers would be distributed to those who needed them. In particular those who could not afford to buy hand sanitizers.
While the whole country is under 21-day lockdown, government is making frantic efforts to prevent this pandemic to go out of control.
“So far, two townships have recorded their first cases: Khayelitsha in Capetown and Alexandra townships,” Provincial Health Department said.
“The department can confirm that there are five people who are currently under quarantine after being in close contact with a confirmed case. The confirmed case, tested and was instructed to remain under self-isolation while awaiting results,” the department added.
