Community Partner,

The NYPD is aware that planned demonstrations in front of mosques – in some cases urging participants to carry weapons – have been advertised online in over 20 US cities are scheduled for October 9th and October 10.

To date, there is no indication of any such protests in New York City planned for October 9th and October 10th. Our community affairs personnel have been and will be in contact with Muslim leaders throughout the city. At this time, there are no reported threats or knowledge of planned demonstrations on October 9th and October 10th in New York City.

Moreover, we have observed that only small protests are expected in other cities, and we have seen no current indications of violence planned for protests in other cities.

Our teams will continue to watch for any new information related to these events in and around New York City. The NYPD will continue to dedicate personnel and resources to ensure the safety of all New Yorkers. Should you have any concerns, we encourage you to contact your local Precinct or Police Service Area.
