King Salman honors Saudi legacy, names Riyadh squares after imams, kings

King Salman issued a directive to name 15 squares in Riyadh after notable imams and kings of the Saudi State, as the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
This initiative, proposed by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, aligns with Saudi Arabia’s celebration of Founding Day on February 22.
The move underscores the leadership’s dedication to preserving the legacy of the rulers who, for over three centuries, have been instrumental in the Kingdom’s foundation, unification, and development. These leaders not only safeguarded Saudi Arabia’s resources and ensured its security but also contributed significantly to the prosperity of its people.
The newly named squares, situated along Riyadh’s main roads, will honor historical figures from the Saudi State. These include Imam Muhammad bin Saud, Imam Abdulaziz bin Muhammad, Imam Saud bin Abdulaziz, Imam Abdullah bin Saud, Imam Turki bin Abdullah, Imam Faisal bin Turki, Imam Abdullah bin Faisal, and Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal.
The list also features modern Saudi rulers such as King Abdulaziz, King Saud, King Faisal, King Khalid, King Fahd, King Abdullah, and King Salman.
Saudi Arabia celebrates Founding Day, marking the establishment of the first Saudi state in 1727 by Imam Mohammed bin Saud. This national holiday honors the Kingdom’s rich heritage, unity, and security.
