French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Sunday that he had a phone conversation with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, addressing the Russia-Ukraine war and key Middle East developments.

“I spoke with the Crown Prince about Russia’s war in Ukraine and the role Saudi Arabia could play in fostering a solid and lasting peace, with Europeans at the center of the process,” Macron wrote on X.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, the two leaders exchanged views on global affairs, with a focus on security and stability.

Macron also highlighted discussions on Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria, praising Saudi Arabia’s diplomatic efforts within the Arab League.

“Regarding the situation in Gaza, I commended Saudi Arabia’s efforts alongside the Arab League – work that France will support and advocate at the European level,” he stated.

On Lebanon, Macron emphasized the importance of enforcing the ceasefire agreement, adding, “We discussed the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon, including a complete withdrawal of Israel.”

He also referenced the Paris Conference on Syria, calling it “an important moment of hope and commitment,” reaffirming France’s support for the Syrian people and transitional authorities.
