With Ramadan approaching, businesses across Jordan have begun preparations as early as February, anticipating increased consumer demand for festive foods, traditional attire, and decorative items.
This early surge is driven by both economic uncertainties and the need to remain competitive in a shifting market landscape.
Retailers have responded by launching Ramadan products ahead of schedule. Saddam Mansour, an employee at a retail chain in Amman, highlighted the importance of this strategy. “Our customers have demonstrated a strong demand for high-quality Ramadan products.
By launching our seasonal offerings earlier, we have been able to capture early interest in a highly competitive market,” he said. He also noted that early planning allows businesses to refine their products and optimize inventory management.
Economic experts see the trend as a deliberate move to stimulate consumer spending. Economist Ola Khasawneh explained in an interview with The Jordan Times that early preparations help businesses manage stock efficiently, contributing to overall economic growth.
Despite the proactive approach, some retailers are experiencing lower-than-expected demand.
As businesses navigate fluctuating demand, the early rollout of Ramadan products reflects both economic caution and a strategic push to maximize seasonal sales.
