In London, the United Kingdom, the Metropolitan Police has issued a strict warning ahead of a pro-Palestinian rally, reminding participants that expressing support for proscribed groups like Hamas or Hezbollah is a criminal offence.

In a statement released ahead of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) rally scheduled for Saturday, the police clarified that it is illegal to “invite or express support for a proscribed organisation through chanting, wearing clothing, or displaying articles such as flags, signs or logos.”

The event marks the 21st pro-Palestinian demonstration in London since October 2023 and will see a strong police presence along the march route. The rally is also expected to draw counter-protesters from the group Stop the Hate, which has called for an end to what it describes as support for terror.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Jon Savell, who oversees the policing operation, highlighted ongoing coordination with various groups to ensure safety. “Regular discussions have taken place with the PSC, Stop the Hate, as well as faith and community groups – particularly the Jewish community in the city,” Savell said.

Officers are expected to maintain a “highly visible” presence throughout the protest and surrounding areas, with a commitment to addressing any violations of the law.

Israel’s raging offensives in Gaza have killed at least 44,363 Palestinians and wounded 105,070 since October 7, 2023. While at least 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the Hamas-led attacks that day, and more than 200 were taken captive.
