Thousands of demonstrators gathered at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C., for a pro and anti-Israel rally, coinciding with President Isaac Herzog’s visit to the United States for the Jewish Federations of North America’s annual General Assembly.

The event, “Stand Together,” follows last year’s massive rally on the National Mall, which drew nearly 300,000 people in support of Israel after Hamas’s October 7, 2023, attacks.

The rally kicked off the General Assembly, with President Herzog set to meet U.S. President Joe Biden on Tuesday.

Michael Herzog, Israel’s ambassador to the United States, addressed the crowd, saying, “The energy in the air is palpable… All of us, all of you, are a clear expression of the unity, solidarity and resilience of the Jewish people.”

Organized by the Jewish Federations of North America, representing over 350 Jewish communities, the event aimed to demonstrate unity and solidarity with Israel.

The anti-Israel protesters are rallying as they demand for the end of the war in Gaza and Lebanon with so immediate end in sight.

Israel’s raging attacks on Gaza have killed at least 43,603 Palestinians and wounded 102,929 since October 7, 2023. An estimated 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the Hamas-led attacks that day and more than 200 were taken captive.

In Lebanon, at least 3,189 people have been killed and 14,078 wounded in Israeli attacks since the war on Gaza began.
