Saudi’s KSrelief pledges $10.4 million to aid internally displaced Ukrainians
The Saudi aid agency KSrelief has taken a significant step to support internally displaced people in Ukraine, signing a cooperation agreement worth over $10.4 million with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.
The funding will provide crucial shelter assistance to those affected by the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine.
The aid package is substantial, with plans to distribute 11,000 shelter kits, 2,400 rapid heating kits, and essential building materials to insulate homes during the harsh winter months. This will directly benefit almost 49,000 people, offering them a sense of security and comfort amidst the ongoing conflict.
Formally signed at KSrelief‘s headquarters in Riyadh, with Ahmed bin Ali Al-Baiz, KSrelief’s assistant supervisor for operations and programs, and Kelly Clements, UNHCR‘s deputy high commissioner, in attendance. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, head of KSrelief and adviser at the Royal Court, also witnessed the signing.
The partnership is part of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to provide humanitarian aid globally, demonstrating the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting vulnerable populations. The collaboration between KSrelief and UNHCR underscores the importance of international cooperation in addressing the world’s most pressing humanitarian challenges.
