In a significant stride towards promoting healthier lifestyles, the Municipality of Madinah has successfully unveiled an extensive network of 70 kilometers of bike paths throughout the city in 2023.

Aligned with the objectives of the municipality’s humanizing cities program, these paths not only enhance transportation options but also contribute to the overall well-being of the community.

These newly established bike paths, strategically positioned along major roads and residential areas, serve as a testament to the municipality’s commitment to improving the quality of life for Madinah’s residents. Beyond offering a safe and convenient mode of travel, these paths are envisioned as platforms for fostering health and fitness awareness among the city’s populace.

Designed to cater to cyclists of all skill levels, from beginners to professionals, these paths seamlessly integrate with the public transportation system, providing a sustainable alternative for commuters. The Careem BIKE service, operating over 165 rental bike stations across the city, further supports eco-friendly mobility for both residents and visitors.

Emphasizing safety as a top priority, the bike paths ensure a separation from vehicular traffic, making them accessible to people of all ages and abilities. Looking ahead, the municipality aims to expand this network to cover a total length of 220 kilometers, encompassing 33 key locations in Madinah by the end of 2025.

This initiative aligns with the overarching vision of the municipality, seeking to enhance the quality of life for residents and create memorable experiences for visitors. The presence of rental bike stations at historical sites, including the central area surrounding the Prophet’s Mosque, encourages exploration and appreciation of the city’s unique cultural offerings.

Beyond the immediate benefits, the introduction of these safe bike paths contributes to sustainable transportation methods and reduces environmental impacts. This holistic approach underscores Madinah’s commitment to transforming into a more attractive, efficient, and livable city for residents, workers, and tourists alike.
