The UN’s Human Rights Office (OHCHR) in Palestine has announced plans to deploy mobile teams to Gaza to oversee the equitable distribution of humanitarian aid.
In a statement shared on social media, OHCHR emphasized its commitment to ensuring that “the most vulnerable groups have equal access” to the aid now being funneled into the conflict-stricken territory.
This initiative comes as Gaza grapples with the devastating aftermath of recent conflict. The agency highlighted the extensive challenges ahead, warning that recovery would be a long and arduous process.
“Gaza will have to endure for years to come: the destruction of basic infrastructure, the collapse of public order and safety, unexploded ordnance, rubble, lack of shelter and safe spaces, life-changing disabilities, and immense mental health needs,” the statement read.
