Massive Fire Ravages Sierra Leone’s State House

Freetown was gripped by panic on Saturday as a massive fire engulfed Sierra Leone’s State House, the presidential seat and a historic symbol of national governance.
The blaze, which erupted in the upper floors of the building, sent thick plumes of smoke spiraling into the capital’s skyline, prompting a frantic emergency response.
Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos as firefighters, police units, and emergency services scrambled to contain the inferno. The top floor of the structure, believed to house several administrative offices, has been severely damaged.
“The fire was spreading fast. We saw flames pouring from the windows,” an onlooker said. “There was panic everywhere—people were trying to get out, while others were shouting for help.”
