Social media erupted in anger and disbelief after Donald Trump’s official accounts posted an AI-generated video depicting a war-torn Gaza transformed into a lavish seaside resort, featuring a golden statue of the former U.S. president towering over the landscape.
The 33-second clip, titled “Gaza 2025: What’s Next?”, amassed millions of views on Instagram and thousands of shares on Trump’s Truth Social by Wednesday morning.
The video portrays people emerging from the rubble onto a pristine beachfront lined with palm trees and luxury yachts, accompanied by a soundtrack proclaiming, “Donald’s coming to set you free.”
Trump has previously suggested a U.S.-led occupation of Gaza, with its Palestinian population permanently expelled, a proposal that drew widespread condemnation.
Though he later toned down his stance, claiming it was merely a recommendation, the concept of forced relocation has been fiercely criticized.
The AI-generated video features bizarre scenes, including a shirtless Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sipping cocktails poolside, and billionaire Elon Musk dancing under a shower of cash on the beach. Musk is also depicted tossing dollar bills while enjoying hummus by the sea.
Adding to the controversy, a massive golden statue of Trump dominates the landscape, alongside a gift shop selling miniature versions of Trump seated on a throne.
The surreal imagery sparked outrage, with many social media users branding it “pure evil,” “racist,” and a celebration of ethnic cleansing.”
@SholaMos1 wrote: “President of the United States posts video of him taking over Gaza with his statue for worship, dollars raining, Trump Gaza as centrepiece as he & Netanyahu chill at the beach. Ethnic cleansing rebranded as a real estate deal. Colonialist White Supremacist Zionism. Pure Evil.”
Howard Beckett, UK-based activist and trade unionist, lashed out at the video, calling it “truly racist fascism.”
“It needs to be seen to be believed: Trump statues; Musk dancing; Trump & Netanyahu sun bathing & drinking cocktails. Monsters rejoicing in their genocide & ethnic cleansing.”
Another X user, Laura Dodsworth, called the video “psychological warfare.”
The use of AI-generated content to promote a vision of Gaza‘s future under U.S. influence has fueled accusations of propaganda and insensitivity, intensifying criticism of Trump’s stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
