The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society has raised serious concerns over the deteriorating health of prisoners released by Israel under the ongoing ceasefire deal.

The advocacy group reported that many of the freed individuals were suffering from severe health complications, with some requiring immediate hospitalization.

“Today, after 183 prisoners were released in the fifth batch of the first phase, the prisoners’ bodies and their health conditions, and the need for some of them to be transferred to the hospital, reflected the level of atrocities that the prisoners were exposed to over the past period in the occupation prisons,” the group stated.

Beyond the physical toll, the organization also condemned what it described as “organized terrorism” against the families of detainees.

“In addition to all this, we remind you that the occupation did not stop at its crimes against prisoners, but also practised organised terrorism against their families,” the statement added.

The advocacy group stressed that Israel still holds more than 10,000 Palestinian prisoners, a figure that excludes those detained in Gaza.

The revelation adds to growing international scrutiny over the treatment of Palestinian detainees, particularly in light of the ongoing truce negotiations and prisoner exchanges.
