Saudi Arabia condemns armed attack on Chad’s presidential palace

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Saudi Arabia has strongly condemned the recent attack targeting the presidential palace in N’Djamena, Chad.
In a statement, the ministry reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s unwavering support for Chad’s security and stability, while unequivocally rejecting any actions that threaten the nation’s peace.
Expressing solidarity, the ministry conveyed sincere condolences to the family of the fallen soldier, as well as to the government and people of Chad. It also extended wishes for a swift recovery to those injured in the attack.
Recall that a foiled attack on Chad’s presidential compound was carried out on Wednesday by a group of two dozen armed “ill-intentioned individuals” who were neutralised by security forces.
Reports said bursts of gunfire rang out near the president’s office in the capital, N’Djamena, on Wednesday night as the military blocked surrounding streets.
The Chadian Authority later announced it had foiled an attempt to destabilise the country and the situation was under control.
Security forces killed 18 of the assailants and wounded six, who were taken to hospital, the prosecutor said.
Investigations have commenced to identify all instigators and accomplices, the prosecutor said in a statement.
