OIC denounces fresh terrorist attack on Benin army position

The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly denounced the recent terrorist attack on a Benin army position in the northern region of the country.

The assault tragically claimed around twenty lives and left several others injured.

In a statement, H.E. Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, the Secretary-General of the OIC, described the attack as cowardly and reprehensible. He called for an end to such heinous acts of violence and expressed the OIC’s unwavering support for Benin’s authorities in their fight against terrorism.

The statement reads: “The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemns the deadly terrorist attack on a Benin army position in the northern region of the country on January 10, 2025, which tragically claimed the lives of around twenty individuals and left several others injured.

“The Secretary-General of the OIC, H.E. Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, described the attack as cowardly and reprehensible, and called for an end to these heinous acts. He reaffirmed the OIC’s full solidarity with the Benin authorities in their efforts to combat terrorism.

“The Secretary-General also extended his condolences to the families of the victims, the government, and the people of Benin, and wished the injured a swift recovery.”
