The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has expressed strong support for Ireland’s announcement to intervene in South Africa’s case against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) over allegations of genocide in the Gaza Strip.

In a statement issued Wednesday evening, the Ministry praised Ireland’s decision as a demonstration of its steadfast commitment to justice, international law, and its enduring solidarity with Palestine.

The Ministry urged all State Parties to the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide to join South Africa’s case in the ICJ.

It noted further that global cooperation in pursuing this legal action is essential to end what it described as an ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people and to address Israel’s perceived impunity.

“This is a shared responsibility for the sake of humanity and the rule of law,” the statement concluded, highlighting the urgency for collective international action.
