Nations across the world have urged for calm, unity, and reconstruction in Syria following the fall of President Bashar al-Assad’s 24-year rule and the takeover of Damascus by militants.

Egypt, in its first official reaction, called for the preservation of Syria’s state capabilities and national institutions, emphasizing its support for Syrian sovereignty and unity.

Turkey’s Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan, advocated for an inclusive and orderly transition, underscoring the importance of safeguarding Syria’s territorial integrity and preventing exploitation by terrorist groups. “Today there is hope,” Fidan remarked, urging international and regional actors to ensure a smooth transition.

Jordan emphasized the urgency of maintaining Syria’s unity and security, reaffirming its commitment to regional stability and the restoration of Syrian institutions. Similarly, the UAE highlighted the risks posed by non-state actors exploiting political vacuums.

In Europe, Germany’s Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock, described Assad’s ousting as “a great relief” but warned against radicalization.

France, Spain, and China echoed calls for unity and stability, with Spain stressing the need for a peaceful solution benefiting Syrians and fostering regional stability.

The UN’s special envoy for Syria, Geir Pedersen, emphasized the need for inclusive transitional arrangements, reflecting the aspirations of millions of Syrians.

Amid swift developments, the international community has rallied around a unified message: a peaceful and inclusive political transition, the preservation of Syria’s territorial integrity, and proactive measures to prevent further instability.
