Surge in civilian casualties as Israeli army intensifies attack in Gaza
Over the past 24 hours, the Israeli army has carried out strikes, targeting families in the Gaza Strip, killing 52 civilians and injuring 142 others, according to the Palestinian news agency.
Since the onset of Israeli retaliatory attacks on October 7, 2023, the death toll in Gaza has risen to 44,664, predominantly children and women.
Additionally, 105,976 individuals have sustained injuries, highlighting the catastrophic human impact of the ongoing violence.
Many victims remain trapped beneath rubble or left in the streets as emergency responders struggle to reach them. Rescue efforts are hindered by continued Israeli strikes, the overwhelming scale of destruction, and a critical shortage of fuel and heavy equipment needed for operations.
The ability to accurately document casualty figures is severely compromised. Repeated communication and internet blackouts, fuel shortages, and devastated infrastructure make data collection and verification almost impossible amid the relentless attacks.
