Qatar, UK double joint humanitarian funding to historic $100 million
During His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani’s state visit to the United Kingdom, Qatar and the UK announced a landmark agreement to double their joint humanitarian and development funding to $100 million (£79.4 million).
This enhanced commitment reflects the deepening partnership between the two nations and their dedication to addressing global challenges.
Building on a successful history of collaboration, the increased funding will target initiatives aimed at resolving humanitarian crises, fostering sustainable development, and tackling the root causes of displacement and irregular migration.

The efforts will prioritize conflict resolution, education, food security, health, and climate resilience in regions of mutual concern.
Through existing mechanisms, Qatar and the UK have already delivered significant impacts, such as providing 17 tonnes of aid to Gaza, enabling education for children in Northwest Syria, and assisting over 100 vulnerable communities in Somalia to recover from crises.
The new funding commitment will extend these achievements, focusing on enhancing resilience, improving food security, and fostering sustainable livelihoods.
Her Excellency Mariam Bint Ali al-Misned, Qatar’s Minister of State for International Cooperation, emphasized that this collaboration exemplifies the power of partnerships in advancing peace and sustainable development. “By doubling our joint funding, we are strengthening our ability to deliver real and lasting impact to millions of vulnerable people worldwide,” she stated.
On his part, UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy highlighted the partnership’s achievements and its role in tackling global challenges, including in Gaza, Syria, and Somalia.
This commitment, he noted, underscores the growing strategic ties between the nations and their shared vision for a resilient and equitable future.
