The Riyadh Metro, the largest metro system in the Middle East and the world’s longest driverless train, officially began operations across three lines on Sunday morning,

The massive transportation infrastructure offers residents of the Saudi capital a seamless and modern commuting experience.

The first operational phase includes the Blue Line (Line 1), connecting Olaya Street to Batha; the Yellow Line (Line 4), running along King Khalid International Airport Road; and the Purple Line (Line 6), linking Abdul Rahman bin Awf Road with Al-Shaikh Hassan bin Hussain Road.

The Riyadh Metro spans 176 kilometers, connecting 85 stations, including four main hubs. The project, inaugurated by King Salman on November 27, aims to reduce traffic congestion in the city by 30%, according to the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC).

Passengers can plan trips and purchase tickets using the Darb app or through ticket windows and vending machines at metro stations.

Recall that the Muslim Parrots reported that Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman approved the Kingdom’s 2025 budget, projecting total revenue of 1.184 trillion riyals ($315.73 billion) and expenditures of 1.285 trillion riyals as part of efforts to strengthen the nation in all sectors.

The Crown Prince directed ministers and officials to ensure that programs, strategies, and development projects outlined in the budget align with the objectives of Vision 2030, the Kingdom’s transformative roadmap for economic diversification.
