‘You’ve set dangerous precedent’: Former Israeli defense minister reacts to ICC arrest
Former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant sharply criticized the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) arrest warrant issued against him, calling it a “dangerous precedent” in a statement on Thursday.
In reaction to the order, Gallant argued that the ICC’s decision equates the actions of Israel with those of Hamas, which he described as a “murderous organization.”
Writing on X, he stated, “The decision of the court in The Hague will be remembered forever — it places the State of Israel and the murderous leaders of Hamas in the same row and thus legitimizes the murder of babies, the rape of women and the abduction of the elderly from their beds.”

He further contended that the ICC’s ruling undermines the principles of self-defense and ethical warfare, which he believes Israel exemplifies. Gallant warned that the move could embolden terrorism globally, stating, “The decision sets a dangerous precedent against the right to self-defense and ethical warfare and encourages murderous terrorism.”
The ICC’s warrants, which also target Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Hamas leader Ibrahim Al-Masri, have drawn polarized reactions internationally, with Israel rejecting the court’s jurisdiction and describing the accusations as baseless.
The people of Gaza have welcomed the order as more people have been killed, especially women and children, by the relentless Israeli attacks.
