Qatar delivers second batch of medical equipment to Sudan amid ongoing war

A Qatari aircraft carrying the second shipment of advanced medical equipment, including Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Computed Tomography (CT) scan devices, has arrived in Port Sudan.
The aid was received by Sudan’s Acting Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, alongside Qatar’s ambassador to Sudan, Mohamed bin Ibrahim al-Sada.
This latest delivery builds on the first batch of Qatari medical aid sent earlier this year and reflects Qatar’s continued support for Sudan as it navigates the challenges of an ongoing conflict.
The equipment is expected to enhance medical services in Sudan, where health infrastructure has been strained by the ongoing conflict and humanitarian crisis.
Qatar’s humanitarian gesture aligns with broader international efforts to provide relief and essential medical supplies to Sudan, helping to alleviate the suffering of its people and bolster resilience in the face of adversity.
Sudan has been enmeshed in a conflict that has resulted in what the UN has referred to as one of the greatest humanitarian disasters in history. The war was triggered by a rancorous struggle for power in April 2023.
More than nine million people have been forced to flee their homes and there are fears of a widespread famine as people have not been able to grow crops to feed on.
