Israeli strike on Gaza school kills 10, raises concerns of humanitarian crisis

An Israeli strike on Saturday targeted the UN-run Abu Assi school in Gaza City’s Shati refugee camp, killing 10 Palestinians and wounding at least 20 others.
The school, sheltering displaced families, remains a site of ongoing rescue operations, with fears that scores of people are still trapped beneath the rubble, according to medics.
This attack is part of broader Israeli military operations, with Palestinian health officials reporting at least 30 fatalities across Gaza on Saturday alone. The Gaza health ministry states that the death toll since October 7, 2023, has reached 43,799.

Meanwhile, Khan Younis Municipality has warned of severe water shortages affecting 1.2 million Palestinians due to halted fuel supplies essential for operating water and sewage facilities. The blockade on fuel and equipment has led to fears of environmental and health catastrophes, including sewage overflows and potential outbreaks of disease.
The municipality and emergency committees have called for urgent international intervention to end the ongoing conflict, restore essential services, and prevent further deterioration of living conditions in Gaza.
The Israeli military confirmed continued “operational activity” in northern areas such as Jabalia and Beit Lahia, indicating no immediate cessation of hostilities.
