The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the largest Muslim civil rights group in the U.S., has publicly condemned President Joe Biden, declaring him a “war criminal” over his decision to maintain arms supplies to Israel.

CAIR’s statement came in response to Israel’s non-compliance with a U.S.-mandated deadline to improve humanitarian access to Gaza.

In its statement, CAIR asserted that Biden’s actions amount to complicity in war crimes, arguing that “knowingly funding war crimes in violation of U.S. and international law makes you a war criminal.”

“We strongly condemn President Biden’s decision to continue illegally supplying the Israeli government with deadly weapons even after (Prime Minister) Benjamin Netanyahu violated the 30-day deadline that the administration set for Israel to stop starving Gaza,” the statement continued.

The Biden administration had set a deadline of Oct. 13, conveyed through Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, urging Israel to address Gaza’s humanitarian crisis within 30 days.

Key demands included the entry of at least 350 aid trucks daily into Gaza and a commitment to avoid banning the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) in Israel and occupied territories.

Despite Israel’s failure to meet these requirements, the U.S. State Department on Tuesday announced that it had no current plans to change its policies, stating, “We, at this time, have not made an assessment that the Israelis are in violation of U.S. law.”

Israel’s violent raids on Gaza have killed at least 43,712 Palestinians and wounded 103,258 since October 7, 2023. An estimated 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the Hamas-led attacks that day, and more than 200 were taken captive.
