Qatar: Expect poor horizontal visibility, strong wind, Department of Meteorology warns residents

In Qatar, the Department of Meteorology has urged residents to prepare for misty to foggy conditions inland through 6:00 pm on Wednesday, with visibility reduced in many areas early in the day.

In a forecast, the Department warned that the inshore weather will be relatively hot during the day with some clouds, cooling to mild conditions by night.

Offshore, hazy skies and occasional clouds are expected, accompanied by strong winds and high seas.

Winds inland are forecast to be northwesterly at 5-15 knots, with gusts reaching 24 knots in some locations. Offshore, northwesterly winds will range from 10-20 knots, with gusts up to 26 knots.

Inshore sea conditions will be between 2 and 4 feet, potentially rising to 5 feet at times, while offshore seas are expected to range from 3 to 6 feet, with waves reaching up to 8 feet.

Visibility inland is predicted to range from 4 to 8 kilometers, dropping to 2 kilometers or less in some places early on, while offshore visibility will range from 4 to 9 kilometers.

The climate of Qatar is arid. The nation’s lengthy summers, which last from May to September, are marked by extreme dry heat with highs of over 45°C. Although mild, winter temperatures can drop below 5°C.
