Emir of Qatar calls for rain-seeking prayer following prolonged drought
The Emir of Qatar His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani has called for Istisqa, otherwise known as rain-seeking prayers, to be held across the country on Thursday morning, 12 Jumada Al-Ula 1446 AH, which corresponds to November 14, 2024.
The prayer, a traditional call for rain in Islamic practice during times of drought or dry weather, will take place at mosques and designated prayer grounds nationwide.
His Highness will join worshipers at the Lusail prayer ground for the occasion.
The Istisqa prayer is a significant communal event in Islamic culture, where people gather to ask for divine intervention for rain and blessings on the land.
The observance comes as Qatar and the wider region experience prolonged dry conditions.
Authorities have invited citizens and residents to participate in the prayer, underscoring its importance in fostering unity and faith within the community.
