An exit poll conducted by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) reveals that a majority of American Muslims opted for third-party candidate Jill Stein over Kamala Harris and Donald Trump in the recent U.S. presidential election.

According to the poll, which surveyed over 1,500 voters representing the approximately 2.5 million registered American Muslims, 53 per cent cast their ballots for Stein.

In contrast, 21 percent voted for Trump, 20 percent for Harris, and only 1 percent for Cornell West.

The poll also indicated that over 85 percent of respondents participated in Election Day voting, reflecting high engagement within the community.

CAIR attributes the noticeable shift in support toward Stein to the war in Gaza, which they say significantly impacted American Muslims’ views.

“The war on Gaza played a crucial role, leading to a sharp drop in support for Vice President Harris compared to the support President Biden received from Muslim voters in 2020, and a sharp rise in support for third-party candidate Jill Stein,” explained Robert S. McCaw, CAIR’s National Government Affairs Director.

Interestingly, the poll also highlighted gains for Trump, with McCaw noting that “President-Elect Trump also managed to make inroads with Muslim voters.”

In the 2020 presidential election, Biden won a substantial majority of the Muslim vote, with 83 percent support compared to Trump’s 17 percent.

Donald J. Trump overpowered Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election marking a historic and improbable comeback for the former president.

Trump left office in 2021 after failing to overturn the 2020 election results. Afterward, he became the first former president to be charged with either state or federal crimes, with four separate indictments, one of which resulted in conviction.
