Sultan of Oman issues 4 Royal decrees, appoints new judges of supreme court

Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of the Sultanate of Oman has issued four royal decrees, including one establishing the National Records Centre.

The centre will be part of the Royal Oman Police’s organizational structure and will oversee national records.

In addition, the decree transfers assets, obligations, and employees from the Electronic Census of Population, Housing and Establishments 2020 Project to the new centre.

The new Royal Decree also appointed a Permanent Representative for the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations in New York.

Article (1) transfers Omar bin Said bin Omar Al Kathiri, the Sultanate of Oman’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain and appoints him as Oman’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York.

Royal Decree No. (54/2024) appointed 23 judges at the Supreme Court. Some of the judges include: Mohammed bin Said bin Khalfan Al Yahya’ee, Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Sulaiman Al Mahrouqi, Abdullah bin Masoud bin Ali Al Sunaidi, Khalfan bin Salim bin Nasser Al Busaidi among several others.

Oman is a member of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Gulf Cooperation Council, the Arab League, the United Nations, and the Non-Aligned Movement.

Its oil reserves are ranked 22nd in the world. The Arab was named the world’s most developed nation during the previous 40 years by the United Nations Development Programme in 2010.
