Lebanese Minister of Public Works and Transport, Ali Hamie, has confirmed that Israeli naval commandos captured a Lebanese man in northern Lebanon on Friday.

The man, identified as Imad Amhaz, was taken by more than 25 Israeli soldiers who raided a chalet near the beach in Batroun, south of Tripoli.

Reports say Amhaz was a captain of civilian ships and was studying at a civilian naval institute. The reports contradict initial reports suggesting Amhaz was part of the Lebanese Navy. However, the Saudi Al-Hadath outlet reported that Amhaz held a position within Hezbollah.

The capture has sparked concerns and raised questions about the circumstances surrounding Amhaz’s detention. The incident highlights the ongoing tensions between Israel and Lebanon, particularly in the northern region.

In the meantime, the Israeli military says it has intercepted three drones launched from the east over the Red Sea, without specifying where they came from.

“A short while ago, three UAVs that were launched from the east were intercepted over the Red Sea … the UAVs were intercepted prior to crossing into Israeli territory,” the military said in a statement.
