The Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza suffered a devastating blow on Thursday as its third floor was bombed by the Israeli forces, leading to the destruction of crucial medical supplies.

The supplies had been delivered just five days ago through a joint mission between the United Nations and the World Health Organization.

The bombing is part of a larger pattern of attacks on hospitals and rescue teams in Gaza. Medical personnel have been arrested, and essential equipment, including ambulances and a fire truck, has been confiscated.

Confirming the attack, Stephane Dujarric, the UN secretary-general’s spokesman said: “This and the delivery had been done by the United Nations through a joint mission of the World Health Organization,” Dujarric said.

“Hospitals are under assault and rescue teams are unable to work due to the arrest of personnel and the confiscation of essential equipment, including ambulances and a fire truck. The scale of destruction is overwhelming affecting nearly every area of the Gaza Strip in the north.”

Israel’s violent attacks on Gaza have killed at least 43,204 Palestinians and wounded 101,641 since October 7, 2023. An estimated 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the Hamas-led attacks that day and more than 200 taken captive.
