A recent surge in Hezbollah rocket attacks on northern Israel resulted in seven fatalities, marking one of the deadliest days for civilians in months.

The attacks occurred in agricultural fields near Metula and Haifa, claiming the lives of five laborers in an apple orchard.

The victims, including one Israeli citizen and foreign nationals, were working in the orchard when a rocket struck. Another person was seriously injured.

The incident brings the total number of civilians killed in cross-border attacks on northern Israel to 39 over the past year.

The IDF reported that Hezbollah fired around 25 rockets at Haifa and other northern regions. Some were intercepted, while others hit their targets. This escalation comes as Israeli officials meet with US mediators to discuss ending the conflict, which has lasted over a month.

The recent casualties are likely to weigh heavily on the ongoing negotiations. The attacks have intensified since October 8, 2023, with this incident being one of the deadliest since a July 27 rocket attack in Majdal Shams claimed 12 young lives.
