UAE launches initiative to support education in Lebanon
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, has launched specialized programs to ensure Lebanese children’s education continues uninterrupted despite the raging attacks by the Israeli forces.
Managed through the digital school under Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), the move seeks to support schools and students affected by Lebanon’s ongoing crises.
It is also part of the UAE’s comprehensive humanitarian response, which has provided emergency aid, healthcare, and food supplies to the Lebanese people.
The Lebanon Education Continuity Project (2024-2025) aims to benefit 40,000 students by providing access to digital learning platforms aligned with Lebanon’s national curriculum.
Key components include digital education platforms, teacher support, offline access to learning content for students in displacement centres, bypassing the need for internet connectivity, collaboration with partners and authorities to overcome infrastructural challenges and ensure learning continuity.
Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Secretary-General of MBRGI, emphasized that the initiative reflects the directives of President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to support the Lebanese people.
By equipping students with the tools they need for the future, MBRGI reaffirms the UAE’s belief in human capital as the foundation of sustainable progress.
Israel continues its deadly strikes on southern Lebanon, with women and children among 15 people killed in the latest attacks in Sarafand and Haret Saida near Sidon city.
Reports say at least 33 Israeli soldiers have been killed in fighting in southern Lebanon since the start of the month.
