Somalia denounces terrorist attack on Turkish Aerospace Industries, cites threat to global peace
Somalia has joined other nations to denounce the terrorist attack on Turkish Aerospace Industries in Ankara, calling it a “heinous” act that not only targets Turkey but also threatens global peace and security.
The Somali Foreign Ministry expressed solidarity with Turkey, noting that Somalia has faced similar challenges and understands the impact of such attacks. The ministry praised the swift response of Turkish security forces and expressed confidence that those responsible will be brought to justice.
“Somalia remains committed to standing with Turkiye and the international community in the fight against terrorism, with a partnership grounded in shared values and mutual trust,” it said and appealed to the international community “to strengthen cooperation against terrorism”.
“Together, we can ensure that such acts do not weaken our resolution to protect our people and uphold peace”, it said.
The attack on Turkish Aerospace Industries’ facilities in Ankara resulted in casualties, with four people killed and 14 wounded, according to Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya.
Turkey has faced similar terrorist threats in the past, including attacks blamed on Kurdish militants.
The Turkish government has consistently condemned such acts and pledged to continue fighting against terrorism. Somalia’s statement of solidarity reflects the country’s own experiences with terrorism and its commitment to regional and global cooperation.
