Four Israeli reserve soldiers killed in southern Lebanon, says IDF

Four Israeli reserve soldiers were killed and six others injured in a clash with Hezbollah operatives in southern Lebanon on Wednesday, according to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).

The victims have been identified as Warrant Officer Mordechai Haim Amoyal, 42, Sgt. Maj. Shmuel Harari, 35, Master Sgt. Shlomo Aviad Nayman, 31, and Sgt. First Class Shuvael Ben-Natan, 22, all serving with the Carmeli Brigade’s 222nd Battalion.

Eyewitness accounts suggest that Hezbollah fighters emerged from a tunnel, throwing grenades at the Israeli troops, who returned fire.

Three are in serious condition among the injured soldiers. This incident is the latest escalation in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.

In separate incidents Thursday, three Israeli soldiers were seriously wounded in southern Lebanon. An officer with the 7th Armored Brigade’s 77th Battalion was injured in an anti-tank guided missile attack, while a reservist with the 55th Paratroopers Brigade’s 7155th Battalion was hurt during a battle with Hezbollah.

Additionally, an officer with the 226th Paratroopers Brigade’s 6226th Battalion was injured by shrapnel. All injured soldiers have been evacuated to hospitals for treatment.

The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has resulted in significant casualties and displacement on both sides. Diplomatic efforts are ongoing to broker a ceasefire, but the situation on the ground remains tense.
