Reports emanating from Israel say a bedroom window of Prime Benjamin Netanyahu was struck when a Hezbollah drone struck his residence in Caesarea, north of Tel Aviv, on October 19, 2024.

Netanyahu and his family were not present during the attack.

The Times of Israel and other Israeli media outlets said they were only able to publish images showing the shattered window after a suspension was lifted by the Israeli authorities.

The incident was considered an assassination attempt by several news outlets and Netanyahu himself, highlighting the escalating tensions between Israel and Hezbollah.

The drone attack was part of a broader exchange of fire between Israel and Hezbollah, with multiple rockets and drones launched toward northern Israel.

Two other drones targeting the area were intercepted, but the particular drone successfully reached its destination, 70 kilometers (43 miles) away from the Lebanese border, without triggering any sirens.

Netanyahu condemned the attack, calling it a “grave mistake” by Iranian proxies, and vowed that Israel would not be deterred from its “war of revival” against its enemies.

The international community has also weighed in, with US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin expressing relief that Netanyahu was unharmed and reviewing adjustments to US operations in the Middle East to bolster Israeli defense.

Hezbollah later claimed responsibility for the attack on October 22, 2024, emphasizing its ability to target high-profile targets within Israel.
