The Muslim World League (MWL) has welcomed a statement from the Joint Ministerial Contact Group of the League of Arab States and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, aimed at easing the situation in the war-torn Gaza.

The group includes representatives from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, Qatar, Turkey, and other nations . The statement, backed by foreign ministers from Ireland, Norway, Slovenia, and Spain, calls for international support to alleviate the suffering of Palestinians and secure their rights to an independent state.

Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the MWL, praised the concerted efforts to support Palestinians.

He emphasized key points, including enabling the Palestinian government to administer Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem.

Al-Issa also urged international action towards a two-state solution, recognizing Palestine as a UN member state.

Additionally, he advocated for unconditional humanitarian aid delivery, support for UN agencies, and adherence to international humanitarian law.

Al-Issa, in the statement, concluded by thanking Saudi Arabia for its significant efforts in advancing the Palestinian cause through diplomatic engagements.

The Muslim World League’s endorsement comes as the international community ramps up efforts to address the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

Recall that the UN Security Council adopted Resolution 2735 (2024), proposing a three-phase ceasefire deal to end the war in Gaza . The resolution aims to bring about a durable end to the conflict, enable humanitarian aid, and pave the way for a political settlement.
