Just in: British Airways announces flight freeze to Israel
British Airways has decided to suspend flights to Israel for the next five months, citing the need to provide greater certainty to its customers.
The airline will be contacting affected passengers to inform them of their options.
According to a spokesperson for British Airways, customers will be offered a full refund due to the flight freeze.
The decision aims to minimize disruptions and provide clarity for travelers who had planned to fly to Israel during this period.
“This will give greater certainty to our customers who we are contacting to advise them of their options, including a full refund,” a spokesperson for British Airways said in an emailed statement, according to Israeli media.
The suspension of flights is likely a response to the current geopolitical tensions and security concerns in the region.
British Airways has prioritized the safety and well-being of its passengers, choosing to err on the side of caution.
The five-month freeze will undoubtedly impact travel plans for those heading to Israel.
The Muslim Parrot reported earlier that a similar step was taken by the Emirates Airlines after it cancelled flights to and from Iran and Iraq until October 23, 2024.
The global airline cited the rising regional tensions that has taken a devastating tolls on civilians.
Emirates has also banned pagers and walkie-talkies on flights to, from, or via Dubai, including in check-in and cabin baggage following massive explosions that killed over 30 people and injured several others in Lebanon.
