Israeli forces have surrounded and shelled the Indonesian Hospital in Beit Lahia, Gaza, sparking widespread concern.

The hospital’s director, Marwan Sultan, reported that Israeli tanks completely surrounded the hospital, cutting off electricity and targeting the second and third floors with artillery, posing serious risks to medical staff and patients.

“Israeli tanks have completely surrounded the hospital, cut off electricity and shelled the hospital, targeting the second and third floors with artillery,” said Marwan Sultan.

Gaza’s health ministry confirmed that Israel targeted the upper floors, where over 40 patients and medical staff were present.

Heavy gunfire toward the hospital and its courtyard created a state of panic among patients and staff. This incident is part of Israel’s new offensive in northern Gaza, aimed at targeting Hamas fighters regrouping in the area.

In a similar development, at least 33 Palestinians were killed and more than 80 wounded in an Israeli strike on northern Gaza’s Jabalia camp, which has been under siege by Israel’s military for more than two weeks.

Also, Israeli forces target al-Awda and Kamal Adwan hospitals in northern Gaza.

The situation in Gaza is dire, with families struggling to survive under heavy bombardment. The UN humanitarian affairs agency has sounded the alarm about the increasingly dangerous situation, and Gaza’s civil defense agency reported that an Israeli strike in nearby Jabalia killed 33 people.

Human Rights Watch has condemned Israel’s attacks on hospitals, medical facilities, and personnel, calling them “apparently unlawful” and “war crimes.”

The organization has urged Israel to end its blockade of Gaza, which has severely constrained hospitals, causing shortages of essential medicines and equipment.
