Iran has strongly spoken fiercely against the new sanctions imposed by the European Union and Britain, calling them a violation of international law.

Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, denied allegations that Tehran provided ballistic missiles to Russia, stating that these claims are “totally refuted” and lack evidence.

“Some European countries and the UK have unfortunately claimed without evidence that Iran has militarily intervened in this conflict which is totally refuted,” Baghaei said, referring to the Russia-Ukraine war.

The European Union sanctions target seven individuals and seven organizations, including Iran Air, Saha Airlines, and Mahan Air, as well as Iran’s Deputy Defense Minister Seyed Hamzeh Ghalandari.

These entities are accused of facilitating the transfer of ballistic missiles to Russia. Britain has also added nine new designations to its Iran sanctions regime.

The sanctions include an asset freeze and a travel ban to the European Union, targeting prominent officials from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard and the managing directors of Iran Aircraft Manufacturing Industries and Aerospace Industries Organization.

Baghaei emphasized that Iran’s position remains clear: it has not militarily intervened in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The US had previously claimed that Russia received ballistic missiles from Iran, citing shared intelligence with allies.

The development comes as tensions between Iran and Western nations continue to escalate. The UK government has announced measures against Iran and Russia in response to the alleged transfer of ballistic missiles.
