King Charles III will welcome the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, and his wife, Sheikha Jawaher, to the UK for a state visit on December 3-4, 2024.

During their stay, they’ll be guests at Buckingham Palace in central London.

This visit underscores the strengthening partnership between Qatar and the UK, particularly in areas like education, business, and energy.

Sheikh Tamim’s ties to the UK are strong, having studied at Sherborne School and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.

His connection to the UK extends beyond education; Qatar’s ruler since 2013 has also invested heavily in British businesses through the Qatar Investment Authority.

The Emir and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer have met previously, including at the 2024 Paris Olympics and in Qatar.

King Charles III has also visited Qatar several times and was attended by Sheikh Tamim during his coronation.

The ruling Emir is expected to meet Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer for discussions at Downing Street during his visit
