Dubai-based airline Emirates has implemented additional security measures and flight schedule adjustments in response to regional tensions and recent sabotage attacks in Lebanon.

Effective immediately, Emirates has banned pagers and walkie-talkies onboard its planes. The airline’s statement reads: “All Passengers traveling to, from, or via Dubai are prohibited from transporting pagers and walkie-talkies in checked or cabin baggage.”

This decision follows a series of exploding communication devices used by the Iran-backed Hezbollah group, which attributed responsibility to Israel. The blasts resulted in at least 37 fatalities and nearly 3,000 injuries across Lebanon.

Emirates, the Middle East’s largest airline, extended flight suspensions to Iraq and Iran routes until Tuesday following missile flyovers after Iran attacks Israel.

Flights to Jordan, which were temporarily suspended, will resume on Sunday. However, flights to and from Lebanon will remain suspended until October 15, due to Israeli attacks near Beirut’s airport. These schedule adjustments prioritize passenger safety amid regional tensions.

Several other carriers have also suspended or adjusted services to and from Beirut and other Middle East airports due to regional tensions.

Emirates’ measures aim to prioritize passenger safety amidst heightened regional security concerns.
