President Joe Biden has made it clear that Washington will not support Israeli nuclear strikes against Iranian nuclear facilities in response to Tehran’s missile attacks late Tuesday.

Instead, he stressed the importance of a proportional response, stating, “We’ll be discussing with the Israelis what they’re going to do, but all seven of us [G7 nations] agree that they have a right to respond, but they should respond proportionally.”

Reports suggest that Israel was considering targeting Iranian nuclear sites, but the US would prefer a more measured approach, focusing on oil facilities. This nuanced stance reflects the complex geopolitical dynamics at play.

Meanwhile, Iran’s permanent ambassador to the UN, Amir Saeid Iravani, has condemned Israel as a “serious threat to international peace and security.”

Iravani described Iran’s strikes on Israel as self-defense measures, criticizing the UN for inaction in the face of Israeli aggression against Iran and its backed groups, such as Hezbollah and Hamas.

The situation remains volatile, with escalating tensions and competing interests. The international community is urging restraint, emphasizing the need for a peaceful resolution to avoid further destabilization in the region.
