Qatar has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Palestinian refugees, pledging an additional $100 million to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) amidst the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Minister of State for International Co-operation Lolwah bint Rashid AlKhater announced Qatar‘s generous donation at the Ministerial Meeting for Key Partners in Support of UNRWA, held on the sidelines of the 79th UN General Assembly in New York,

Qatar has consistently increased its donations to UNRWA and was the first Arab country to sign a multi-year agreement with the agency in 2018.

AlKhater announced Qatar’s pride in being among the first countries to sign the Statement of Shared Commitments on UNRWA, recognizing the agency’s vital role in providing life-saving assistance to Palestinian refugees.

AlKhater urged the international community to unite in support of UNRWA, stressing the agency’s crucial role in providing humanitarian assistance in Gaza amidst systematic measures by the Israeli government.

Qatar’s pledge and continued support demonstrate its solidarity with the Palestinian people, providing various forms of humanitarian assistance to alleviate their suffering.
