The Turkish Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH) and the Kuwait Society for Relief (KSR) are joining forces to send a humanitarian aid ship carrying 2,400 tonnes of essential supplies to Sudan.

The ship is set to depart from Mersin Port in southern Turkey after completing the necessary procedures.

Sudanese Ambassador to Ankara Nader Youssef Al-Tayeb expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all contributors, highlighting that over the past three months, approximately 8,000 tonnes of humanitarian aid have been sent from Turkey to Sudan.

The ambassador stressed Sudan’s urgent need for such aid, assuring that the Sudanese people and government will not forget this support.

This humanitarian effort comes as Sudan struggles with a devastating conflict that has claimed over 20,000 lives and displaced millions of people since mid-April 2023.

The ongoing war between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces has spread to 13 out of 18 states, exacerbating food shortages and pushing millions to the brink of famine.

The IHH and KSR have previously collaborated on humanitarian missions, including sending an aid ship to Gaza just last month. KSR Director Abdul Aziz Al-Obaid pledged to continue providing humanitarian aid to Sudan in the future.

The international community is increasingly calling for an end to the conflict to spare Sudan from further devastation. With millions facing acute food insecurity and disease outbreaks on the rise, humanitarian aid is crucial to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people.
