Qatar endorses UN resolution condemning Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories
The State of Qatar has applauded the United Nations General Assembly resolution calling for Israel to end its unlawful presence in the occupied Palestinian territories within 12 months and to comply with its obligations under international law.
The resolution, which follows an advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice on the legal consequences of Israel’s policies in the occupied Palestinian territories, was adopted with a majority of 124 votes.
Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) issued a statement, saying the resolution’s adoption by a significant majority underscores the justice of the Palestinian cause and reflects broad international recognition of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.

The MOFA expressed hope that all nations will adhere to the resolution by fulfilling their obligations under international law, promoting the Palestinian right to self-determination, and refraining from recognizing or supporting the legitimacy of the occupation.
Qatar reiterated its firm stance on the Palestinian issue, affirming the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including the establishment of an independent state along the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Recall that the UN General Assembly made a landmark decision on Wednesday passing a resolution that calls for an end to Israel’s “unlawful” occupation of Palestinian territories within 12 months.
The resolution, spearheaded by Palestine and co-sponsored by Türkiye and over 50 other nations, garnered overwhelming support with 124 member states voting in favour, 14 opposing, and 43 abstentions.
At its core, the resolution demands that Israel’s occupation be deemed illegal under international law, referencing rulings from the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and the UN Security Council (UNSC).
It also highlights that Israeli settlements are in violation of international law and asserts the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination as outlined in the UN Charter.
