UAE demands Palestinian state as condition for post-war Gaza plans
The United Arab Emirates has taken a decisive stance on the future of Gaza, making it clear that it will not support post-war rebuilding plans unless the establishment of a Palestinian state is secured.
The United Arab Emirates has taken a decisive stance on the future of Gaza, making it clear that it will not support post-war rebuilding plans unless the establishment of a Palestinian state is secured.
UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan tweeted on Saturday, “The UAE is not ready to support the day after the war in Gaza without the establishment of a Palestinian state,” signaling a hardline approach amid rising tensions in the region.
Anwar Gargash, a senior Emirati diplomatic adviser, reinforced this position, highlighting that the UAE remains steadfast in backing a two-state solution as the only path to long-term peace between Palestine and Israel. “The statement by His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed… reflects our firm and steadfast position in supporting our Palestinian brothers and our conviction that there is no stability in the region except through a two-state solution,” Gargash wrote on X.
The UAE’s firm stance comes as the country calls for an international mission to establish governance in Gaza post-conflict, with a focus on restoring law, order, and addressing the humanitarian crisis. Reem bint Ebrahim Al-Hashimy, the UAE’s minister of state for international cooperation, affirmed the UAE’s support for international efforts to ensure a sustainable peace, grounded in the two-state solution.
With this clear diplomatic message, the UAE signals it will not waver in its call for Palestinian self-determination, while maintaining that any future plan for Gaza must prioritize a sovereign Palestinian state.
