OIC General Secretariat denounces deadly blast in Kabul as ISIL claims responsibility

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly condemned a deadly suicide attack that occurred in a southern area of Kabul, Afghanistan on Monday, September 2, 2024.
The attack, which resulted in loss of life and injury, has been deemed “senseless” by the OIC General Secretariat.

The OIC has consistently emphasised the need to eradicate terrorist groups that seek to disrupt peace and security in Afghanistan. In light of this recent attack, the General Secretariat has reiterated its stance, calling for the perpetrators to be brought to justice promptly.

The OIC General Secretariat has offered its sincerest condolences to the families of the victims and wishes a speedy recovery to those injured in the attack.

The organization assured its commitment to supporting efforts to restore peace and stability in Afghanistan.

The statement reads: “The General Secretariat expresses its dismay over the senseless attack whose perpetrators should be promptly brought to justice.

“As consistently reiterated, the General Secretariat reaffirms its stance on the need to stomp out terrorist groups bent on disrupting the security and peace in Afghanistan.

“The General Secretariat offers its genuine condolences to the victims’ families, wishing the injured prompt recovery.”

Meanwhile, the ISIS (ISIL) group has claimed responsibility for the deadly suicide blast in Kabul that killed at least six people.

In a Telegram post on Tuesday, ISIL said one of its members detonated an explosive vest in the Afghan capital, aimed at the Taliban government’s prosecution service.

ISIL, which put the casualties at “more than 45”, said the bloody assault was revenge for “Muslims held in Taliban prisons”.
