Prestigious King Faisal Prize opens nominations for 2026 awards
The General Secretariat of King Faisal Prize announced Sunday that nominations are now opened for the 2026 awards in five categories: service to Islam, Islamic studies, Arabic language and literature, medicine, and science.
The prize’s 48-year history recognizes individuals and institutions making significant contributions to humanity, said Secretary-General Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Sebail.
Specific themes are established for each category, including “Trade Routes in the Islamic World” for Islamic studies, “Arabic Literature in French” for Arabic language and literature, “Discoveries Transforming Obesity Therapeutics” for medicine, and “Mathematics” for science. The service to Islam prize remains an honorary award.
Nominations are open from September 1 to March 31, 2025, and can be submitted by academic and scientific institutions, as well as research centers, via post, email, or online portal.
The King Faisal Prize, established in 1977, recognizes outstanding works, benefiting Muslims and enriching human knowledge and development. Each laureate receives $200,000, a 24-carat gold medal, and a certificate.
